Sources
The product catalogue and in-store observations come from the configured fuckDFI public API. Official online prices, brand, stock, offers and the primary product image come from Mannings' public product catalogue and product records.
Consumer Council Online Price Watch is a search link only. Its prices are not ingested or persisted here.
Product matching
Six-digit item code and official SKU are matched first, followed by GTIN. Name, brand and pack matching is only auto-approved at high confidence; ambiguous cases wait for review.
Price series stay separate
In-store standard
The best valid price observed for the date. Conflicting source rows are flagged and keep their min/max range.
Official online standard
The price paid when buying one item, with reference price and stock stored separately.
Conditional effective
Only calculated when quantity and bundle value are deterministic. Required quantity is always shown.
Tomorrow projection
Shown as projected and excluded from statistics and alerts until confirmed.
Metrics
- 7/30/90/365-day change compares with the last confirmed price on or before the reference date.
- Volatility is standard deviation divided by mean price.
- Coverage is observed days divided by expected days; gaps are never interpolated.
- Brand/category index sets each product's first valid price to 100, then uses the daily median.
Freshness and limitations
Full catalogue sync runs daily; recently viewed or promoted products refresh hourly. Source maintenance keeps the last successful value and marks it stale instead of replacing it with zero.
The upstream history endpoint returns at most 500 rows per date request. Date ranges are split automatically; a single day above that limit is clearly marked incomplete.
